LONDON, Jan. 31, 2022 – (ACN Newswire) — Verofax, a provider of smart serialization and traceability solutions, has teamed up with kids’ STEM app Twin Science and LikeToBe to sponsor a science expedition to Antarctica to research the effects of microplastics on life, the environment and the melting of ice caps.

Verofax, Twin Science and LikeToBe share the common goal of providing “Tech for Humanity” and have teamed up to support the Antarctic Science Expedition. Polar explorer Antony Jinman, the twelfth Briton to ski to the Geographic North Pole and ski solo to the Geographic South Pole, led the expedition in December 2021 and spent 2 months in Antarctica collecting data on the impact of microplastics on the environment and wildlife.

The goal of this partnership’s collaboration is to inspire young children to act responsibly by re-educating them for responsible drinking in line with UNSDG Goal 12, through gamification and making kids sustainability advocates to influence older generations.

Antony documented the expedition and answered children’s questions in a series of interactive videos via the Twin Science app for children aged 7-12, hoping to encourage them to seek answers to questions such as ” What are microplastics, where do they come from and how does it affect life and the environment?”, “What would happen to the Antarctic habitat if all the ice caps glaciers were melting?” and “What can we all do as responsible individuals?”

“This expedition to Antarctica is really promising and aims to provide insight into the impact of microplastics on life and the environment,” Antony said. “We are pleased to partner with Twin Science and Verofax to involve children in the expedition and the many challenges we faced collecting scientific evidence. Twin Science’s integrated education and sustainable lifestyle tracking from Verofax are great vehicles for raising awareness on how to act responsibly and make greener choices.”

Wassim Merheby, CEO of Verofax, explained: “Our solution enables transparency and auditability of consumer goods sustainability credentials. Sustainable brands can now engage with consumers and retailers and sell their range of certified ‘green’ products, while retailers and consumers are empowered to verify and validate the product’s life cycle assessment before purchasing. buy, interact with the product and advocate for sustainable brands with their peers. We believe this process naturally starts with sustainable education for young people and gamification, which is a very powerful medium.

Asude Altintas, CEO and co-founder of Twin Science, says, “This is a new approach to education. Firstly, we are so excited to bring young ‘twins’ through our Twin Science app, on this incredible journey to Antarctica and have them overcome challenges with Antony in real time. Secondly, with Verofax, we want to not only say, but show children how real climate change is, and that they themselves can take action to fight it.

“In the Twin app, all of our content is aimed at showing kids how to use STEM for good, and we think this is a great opportunity to do just that. To date, over 500,000 kids have used our STEM kits. and our STEM applications or have participated in our STEM workshops, and we have seen them use their know-how to invent earthquake detectors, reforestation robots or ocean cleaning ships. on this journey will inspire them to one day reverse the effects of climate change.

Professor Ger Graus OBE, the project and education advisor for this partnership, explained: “As someone who strongly believes in introducing children to wonderful role models who provide inspiration and aspiration, I am confident in the ability of this partnership to have real social relations, environmental and sustainable impact.”
