A Waiheke hotel has compiled an annual ranking of the world’s most popular swimming pools featured on Instagram, according to a recent study

Delamore Lodge on Waiheke Island has been named one of the world’s 50 most “instagrammable” pools by an annual ranking by global travel website Big 7 Travel.

The list, which was first compiled in 2021, ranks swimming pools around the world by the number of times their hashtag has been used in an Instagram post.

From the Caribbean to the Himalayas, the list of 50 pools covers several countries, including New Zealand.

Those looking for a perfect place to swim should take a ferry to Waiheke Island and stay overnight at Delamore Lodge.

Coming in at number 42, Big 7 Travel described the accommodation as a “luxurious resort-style boutique hotel”, before directing travelers to the famous infinity pool.

“The clifftop heated infinity pool is very photogenic, and from here you have stunning views of Owhanake Bay,” the listing reads.

“It’s an idyllic place for relaxation and romance.”

The five-star accommodation has just under 2,500 Instagram followers and #delamorelodge has been used on 483 Instagram posts.

Bondi Icebergs in Sydney, Australia, came in at number three on the top 50 list, just above the ditch.

Calling Bondi Icebergs “just a pool” wouldn’t be fair, according to the listing, which describes it as an Australian landmark.

Members and visitors can swim (and pose) in the pool while enjoying the view of Bondi Beach.

Meanwhile, second place was taken by the United States, with the swimming pool at Versace Mansion in Miami Beach.

Once the home of Gianni Versace, it’s no surprise that the pool is a sight to behold, decorated like a Mediterranean-style palace.

Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands hotel swimming pool topped the list with more than 19 million hashtagged posts.

Located 200 meters (57 stories) high in the sky, this pool is not only the most popular on Instagram, it is also the largest rooftop infinity pool in the world.
