For the City Times
STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point Area YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow offers a variety of overnight camps, day camps and traditional adventure trips for youth ages 7-17. Additionally, older youth can be part of leaders-in-training or counselors-in-training to improve leadership and social skills and become effective and confident leaders. Dedicated to providing a safe, fun and outdoor environment, Y Camp is a place where young people learn about the environment, practice new skills like archery, kayaking and fishing, develop positive values, have fun and make friends. Gavin, 12, first attended Leaders in Training last summer. Asked about the camp, his mother said: “It did wonders for his self-esteem – he beamed every day he came home from camp.” Nine-year-old Brock attended the Y day camp for the first time. Asked about his experience, he enthusiastically gave a thumbs up and said, “I loved it.”
Registration is now open for Overnight Camps, Day Camps, Adventure Travel, Leaders in Training (LIT) and Advisors in Training (CIT). Financial assistance is available and applications are handled confidentially and discreetly. For ages 5 to 7, the YMCA offers summer vacation at the Stevens Point YMCA.
